Paula has mastocytosis – a rare, unpredictable chronic condition that shapes her life in countless small ways.
Some days she feels almost normal. Other days, symptoms flare without warning: sudden flushing, dizziness, stomach pain, fatigue, a racing heart. She never knows when the next reaction will come.
But the hardest part isn’t the illness. It’s the healthcare system around it.
Because mastocytosis is rare, few specialists truly understand it. Appointments are precious, often months apart. Every visit feels rushed: half the appointment goes into trying to recall what happened when, and into explaining subtle symptoms in German, a language she still speaks cautiously when she’s anxious.
By the time the doctor has the full picture, the session is nearly over.
But today, the experience feels different. While waiting, Paula speaks with Clio, the clinic’s AI assistant. No stress, no language barrier. She speaks Spanish naturally, describing her flare-ups, what triggered them, how long they lasted, which antihistamines helped, and what changed since her last visit. Clio gently guides her with relevant follow-up questions based on typical mastocytosis patterns - questions her doctor would ask. As she talks, she sees a live transcription of every word on the screen.
For the first time, she feels confident that nothing is being misunderstood or overlooked.
When the doctor enters, he doesn’t need to start from zero.
Clio has already created a clear summary: symptom patterns, possible triggers, medication responses, urgent concerns – all structured, precise, and ready.
The doctor finally has more time.
Not for data entry and documentation
But for her:
Time to listen.
Time to think.
Time to be human.
And as Paula leaves the clinic, she notices something she hasn’t seen in years: new appointment slots opening up. Because when anamnesis and documentation no longer consume the day, doctors can see more patients – without rushing and without compromising care.
This isn’t a distant future.
This is the experience ClioAssist is building today.
Behind the scenes, medicine is becoming richer and more complex.
Every day, doctors collect more information than any human mind can reasonably process: lab values, imaging, genetics, symptom timelines, research findings, drug interactions, guidelines, case reports, specialist notes.
The volume is exploding – but today’s tools are not built for this complexity.
ClioAssist is preparing for the next leap.
Imagine a world where doctors don’t just receive structured anamnesis summaries, but real clinical intelligence that helps them reason through complex cases – in a way that is transparent, traceable, and under their control.
When AI Can Truly Think With the Doctor
The future of clinical support isn’t just prediction – it’s explainable reasoning.
ClioAssist is exploring a new generation of AI that integrates two worlds which used to be separate:
- unstructured medical data: conversations, images, reports
- structured medical knowledge: guidelines, ontologies, pharmacology, biological mechanisms
Neuro-symbolic AI is an emerging research direction that combines:
- the “neuro” side: neural networks that are excellent at recognising complex patterns in speech, images and free text, and
- the “symbolic” side: explicit medical knowledge and logic: rules, causal relationships, contraindications, decision trees.
Together, this means the system doesn’t just detect patterns; it can also check them against medical logic step by step, much like a clinician reasoning through a case:
- Which symptoms support this?
- Which lab values speak against it?
- Are there contraindications or alternative explanations?
For rare diseases like mastocytosis, this matters enormously. There are few datasets, few precedents, and subtle patterns that standard neural networks often miss.
ClioAssist will be able to:
- analyse the patient’s unique medical trajectory,
- compare it with similar cases within the clinic,
- align the findings with the newest research,
- reason over biological pathways,
- and highlight potential treatment paths or drug repurposing candidates.
All of this while staying transparent, auditable, and under full clinical control, always as a tool for clinicians, never as a replacement.
A Call to Action: Let’s Build the Future of Medicine Together
ClioAssist is not just a product.
It is a movement toward a more humane, sovereign, and efficient healthcare system.
We are inviting:
- doctors
- clinics and hospitals
- researchers
to co-create this future with us. Because breakthroughs in healthcare don’t happen through technology alone. They happen when people who care come together.
A future where every patient feels understood.
A future where every doctor works with clarity and time.
A future where healthcare is safe, sovereign, and human-centered.
This is the future ClioAssist is heading to.
